More than $1.2 million awarded to bolster public safety in 72nd District

HARRISBURG, Sept. 18 -- State Rep. Frank Burns announced that more than $1 million in funding is headed to Cambria County communities to support law enforcement and crime victims.

The grants come from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

"These grants help law enforcement upgrade their systems for easier sharing of crime reporting data with the FBI, which helps to capture statewide and local crime trends," Burns said. "Other grants awarded will strengthen the county prison's Vivitrol drug treatment program, expand resources under the Victims of Crime Act and provide legal aid to survivors of domestic violence and other crimes."

The following grants were awarded in the 72nd District:

  • $37,595 to the Cambria County Commissioners and $40,000 to Ebensburg Borough for their efforts toward National Incident-Based Reporting System compliance.
  • $127,590 to the Cambria County Commissioners for its county prison-based Vivitrol Program, a medication-assisted treatment for individuals with substance use disorder.
  • $125,000 for Cambria Victim Services Inc. for its Cambria County STOP program for 2025-27.
  • $111,871 to Cambria County Child Advocacy Center Inc. for child advocacy services.
  • $795,178 to Cambria, Somerset Victim Services Inc. to help victims of crime.
