Deasy announces $4 million in state funding for local projects

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 1 – State Rep. Dan Deasy, D-Allegheny, today announced $4 million from the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program coming back to the 27th Legislative District for projects.

“The projects these state dollars will support are large in scope and are part of ongoing efforts in revitalization across the city,” Deasy said. “The RACP funding is used to fuel economic growth, create jobs, and boost local economies.”

The two projects in the 27th district are:

  • PGH VIN Urban Vineyard - Mount Washington. Grant of $1 million for a comprehensive overhaul of its property to prepare the site for further construction. Once this process is completed, construction of the winery structure will begin with foundations, concrete and masonry work, structural steel, carpentry and framing, as well as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and full interior buildout.
  • Highmark Stadium Expansion. Grant of $3 million for Phase I construction of seating expansion and event center upgrade. This includes the construction of a roof top deck with additional suite seating, locker room, upgrades and improvements to group event areas.

The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program is a Pennsylvania grant program for the design, acquisition, and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. RACP projects have a regional impact and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity.  RACP projects are state-funded projects that cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs.
