Rep. Mary Isaacson March 26, 2024 | 12:49 PM
Today the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed legislation authored by state Rep. Mary Isaacson which would expand the number of tuition-free dual credit programs for students.
“Dual enrollment programs offer students an easy transition from high school to college level work,” Isaacson said. “My legislation will enable generations of future college students to start their journey earlier which studies have shown leads to more successful outcomes for students.”
House Bill 1434 would establish the Dual Credit and Equity Grant Program to provide grants to colleges and universities for expansion of their free dual credit programs, increase access to college course materials at no cost, and ensure that high school students easily transition to college level work.
Isaacson said that this legislation is part of her goal to expand access to higher education in Pennsylvania.
“When we make investments to higher education and remove barriers to attend these institutions, it sets students throughout Pennsylvania up for a lifetime of opportunity,” Isaacson said.
The bill now heads to the Senate for consideration.
