Rep. Joanna E. McClinton June 30, 2021
House Democratic Leader Joanna McClinton announced today that $23,993.20 is being awarded to help fire and emergency medical services in Darby.
McClinton said the funding is provided by the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program and will be dispersed to Darby Fire Co. #1 as follows:
“There is no way to fully repay the sacrifice and commitment our first responders have made to put the safety of our communities first during this pandemic and well before it,” said McClinton, D-Phila./Delaware. “Securing this funding is just one way we’re working to help provide these brave men and women who risk their lives every day with the resources they need to protect themselves and the people they serve.”
Overseen by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner, this annual program provides funding opportunities for volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services and rescue squads.
Eligible organizations can use the grants for facilities and equipment, debt reduction, training and education, recruitment and retention, and to supplement operational expenses incurred by lack of opportunity for fundraising and inability to create revenue due to compliance with measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
More information on the grant program can be found on the Office of the State Fire Commissioner’s website.
