Salisbury: More than $300K secured to bolster 34th District public safety
District will also benefit from more than $1.44 million in county program funding

BRADDOCK, Sept. 17 – Grant funding of $304,000 will strengthen public safety resources for the 34th Legislative District, state Rep. Abigail Salisbury announced today.
Salisbury, D-Allegheny, said the funding awarded through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency includes $200,000 to Wilkins Township to upgrade the police department’s crime reporting system and $104,000 to the Eastern Regional Mon Valley Police Department for the Officer Safety and Citizen Confidence program.
“Public safety benefits when our law enforcement agencies have the best possible reporting procedures,” Salisbury said. “The new grant funding will allow Wilkins Township Police Department to bring its crime reporting operations into compliance with the National Incident-Based Reporting System, which is the national standard for law enforcement crime data.
“The grant to the Eastern Regional Mon Valley Police Department will build on funding the department secured in the spring and will provide the new regional force with resources to enhance safety and continue forging bonds with the community to strengthen public trust.”
In addition to the police department grants, Salisbury said 34th Legislative District communities will benefit from more than $1.44 million in grant funding to Allegheny County and regional associations to strengthen the jail’s Vivitrol drug treatment program, upgrade the county’s crime reporting system, expand resources under the Victims of Crime Act and provide legal aid to survivors of domestic violence and other crimes.
