Markosek secures $120,000 for new equipment for United Volunteer Fire and Rescue

Funding will help improve safety for firefighters serving East McKeesport and Wall Borough

MONROEVILLE, Oct. 15 – State Rep. Brandon Markosek, D-Allegheny, announced today that United Volunteer Fire and Rescue in East McKeesport will receive $120,000 in state funding to replace self-contained breathing apparatus equipment.

“SBCA equipment is crucial for firefighter safety and providing breathable air during fire responses or hazardous situations,” said Markosek. “Our volunteer firefighters risk their lives daily and need the necessary equipment to do their jobs safely. I’m proud to have secured this investment for the safety of our firefighters and the East McKeesport and Wall Borough communities.”

The grant will allow the department to replace outdated SCBA units, ensuring compliance with current safety standards and improving their readiness to respond to fire and rescue emergencies.

The funding comes from the state Department of Community and Economic Development.
