Markosek: $1 million state grant for Forbes Hospital Emergency Department renovation

MONROEVILLE, Nov. 1 – Forbes Hospital has been awarded $1 million in state funding to expand and renovate its existing Emergency Department, announced state Rep. Brandon Markosek, D-Allegheny, today.

Markosek said the initial construction of the project includes relocating the helipad, setting up utilities and preparing for a future surgical expansion.

"This funding will significantly enhance emergency medical services for our community," said Markosek. "The renovation will improve patient care and the overall hospital infrastructure, ensuring that our local healthcare facility can meet the growing needs of the region."

Construction on the Emergency Department will be conducted in phases to maintain continuous emergency services, with new access points for walk-in patients, Emergency Medical Services, and helipad traffic.

The funding comes from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, which supports the design, acquisition, and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. RACP projects have a regional impact and generate substantial increases or maintain current employment levels, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity. RACP projects are state-funded projects that cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs.
