HARRISBURG, Oct. 24 – State Rep. Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz is proud to announce that a total of nearly $1.9 million in Local Share Account Program grants has been approved to fund vital projects that will improve public safety, enhance healthcare services, and support educational and cultural resources across the community.
“These LSA grants, sourced from gaming revenues, are a testament to our ongoing efforts to reinvest in our community and improve quality of life for all residents,” said Cepeda-Freytiz. “This funding will help enhance public services, create safer environments, and support crucial local institutions that make our region such a vibrant place to live.”
Grants awarded include:
$636,022 to Reading Public Museum – The funds will be used to purchase and replace two air handling units and controllers in Reading City.
$250,000 to Reading Hospital – The funding will be used for the installation of an electrophysiology lab at Reading Hospital.
$509,828 to Spring Township Police Department – The grant will be used for improvements to the Spring Township police building in Spring Township.
$500,000 to the Borough of Wyomissing Fire Apparatus – This grant will be used to purchase a new fire truck for use in Wyomissing Borough.
“These funds will have a significant impact on the daily lives of residents in our district by strengthening critical infrastructure and services," said Cepeda-Freytiz. "I’m proud to work alongside my colleagues and community partners to secure these grants, and I look forward to seeing the positive outcomes for our neighbors."
Local Share Account funding, made possible through Pennsylvania’s Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, allocates gaming revenues to support projects that benefit the public interest across the state. The funds are distributed through the Commonwealth Financing Authority and are vital to enabling local governments and organizations to implement projects that enhance community wellbeing.
