State Rep. Mary Isaacson, along with state Sen. Nikil Saval, were instrumental in securing funding for the Fishtown-Kensington Business Improvement District’s Vision Plan Initiative. A grant for $72,750 was awarded to the Fishtown Kensington Area Business Improvement District to complete the project. “I am committed to bringing funding home to the district that will enhance the safety and quality of life of my constituents,” Isaacson said. “This award will go a long way to improve a vital transportation hub while also creating spaces for art and connection, highlighting local artists and vendors.” The legislators aid the program seeks to rejuvenate Front Street and Girard Avenue by activating and beautifying a transportation hub to illuminate, connect, and make this busy intersection safer and more accessible to the thousands who pass by daily. The upgrades also will include space under the Market-Frankford Line, which will be a combined space that merges art with community services. “Public transit and spaces that are safe, accessible and beautiful are core to upholding Philadelphians' right to freedom of movement,” Saval said. “This grant is an investment in the lives and livelihoods of the thousands of neighbors who pass through this space every day. State Rep. Mary Isaacson, D-Phila., has continued her support for community projects by securing $3.3 million in state funding for her district. The amount of $750,000 will be awarded to KPG-MCG Curtis Tenant LLC for renovations in the Curtis Building Life Science Redevelopment. This project will transform currently vacant space into first-class laboratory research space, plus include work on the HVAC and electric throughout the building. Nerd Street Gamers Inc. received $550,000 for construction of a state-of-the-art esports training room, sound stages for broadcast and back-office support. It will also support construction, electrical and HVAC throughout the building. Two million dollars was secured for Roman Catholic High School for its Vision of Promise campus extension. This funding will provide for a new fieldhouse for sports events and a community fitness center. “I will never stop working to bring home state funding to invest in the district,” Isaacson said. “Investments in these three projects are investments in the communities and future of not only my legislative district, but Philadelphia as a whole.” Read more
Pa. state Rep. Mary Isaacson has advocated for the importance of child lead testing since taking office and her efforts were finally realized. The Child Lead Testing Act provides for blood lead assessment and testing of children up to six years of age and pregnant women. HARRISBURG, Oct. 31 – State Rep. Mary Isaacson, D-Phila., has announced two state grants awarded to the 175 th Legislative District for a combined total of more than $2.5 million. The recipients of these grants are: New Kensington Community Development Corp., receiving more than $1 million for the renovation of 2917-21 Kensington Ave. WHYY Inc, receiving $1.5 million for renovations to its facility. “I am excited to see this funding awarded to two very deserving recipients,” Isaacson said. “WHYY and Kensington Ave are crucial parts of the 175 th district, and I can’t wait to see how these renovations improve both places.” The funds are from the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act, have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenue or other measures of economic activity. State Rep. Mary Isaacson, D-Phila., has secured a total of $14 million for 10 separate projects throughout the 175 th Legislative District. The Sunday Breakfast Association of Philadelphia gained $1.5 million for renovations in their building as well as transitional living spaces and a new dining hall. Isaacson said she believes that robust outdoor recreation is a must for any city and the Delaware River Waterfront Corp. was awarded $2 million to repair the bulkhead along the trail, install lighting, and for repaving and stabilizing the trail. Old City District received $1 million to connect Philadelphia’s historic district to the riverfront as well as educate the nearly 4 million visitors each year about the Lenni Lenape nation, the first people to live on the land before William Penn. Isaacson said it’s her steadfast belief that mental health is equally important to physical health, and we need to provide better access to quality physical and mental health. Temple University Hospital was awarded $2 million to modernize its Behavioral Health Facility to help people with substance use disorder. State Rep. Mary Isaacson said she is elated to announce a $210,000 state grant to Neighborhood Gardens Trust. “There are not that many preserved green spaces in this part of the city because of the rapid development and construction happening on every block, which is why this project was so important to me,” Isaacson said. “I am proud to have helped bring home this funding to help purchase this garden so that it can become a permanent community backyard for all residents to enjoy today and for years to come.” This funding will help preserve the Crease Street Garden, which is operated and maintained by residents through Friends of Crease Street Garden. The proposed project includes Neighborhood Gardens Trust purchasing the 3,000 square feet of green space. The trust and Friends of Crease Street Garden will enter into an agreement for the ongoing stewardship and maintenance of the garden. “The community regularly gathers at the picnic tables, flower gardens and under the trees, and I am thrilled that they can now do so without fear of losing this vital green space to additional development,” she said. Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program funds, provided through the Commonwealth Financing Authority, can be used to develop, rehabilitate and improve public parks, recreation areas, greenways, trails and river conservation.
