Pashinski, Flynn announce RACP award recipients

HARRISBURG, Nov. 1 – State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski and Sen. Marty Flynn are happy to announce this year’s RACP recipients and recognize the outstanding contributions they will make to the community. The over $7 million in awards go to the following organizations and projects:

  • Carey Holdings LLC: in the amount of $2.5 million. This will help transform an abandoned school into a mixed-use facility.
  • Irem Temple Restoration Project Inc: in the amount of $1 million. This will assist in the restoration of the Irem Temple as part of the ongoing revitalization of downtown Wilkes-Barre.
  • King's College: in the amount of $750,000. This will assist with ongoing renovations of the library’s first floor.
  • City Centre LP: in the amount of $250,000. This will assist with substantial interior renovations and improvements to the 14-screen RC Theatres complex.
  • Wilkes University: in the amount of $750,000. This will help with the renovation and construction costs of a comprehensive nursing simulation lab that will drive quality nursing professionals into the local healthcare workforce.
  • The Wright Center for Community Health: in the amount of $2 million. This will assist to build out the behavioral health and oral services wing.

Pashinski expressed his support for the awarded projects, stating, "I’m always happy to work with Senator Flynn and our local leaders to help the community by securing state funding for these important initiatives that will enrich our neighborhoods and foster growth and support for those in need."

“These district-wide RACP awards are critical to fostering growth, creating jobs and revitalizing our communities,” Flynn said. “The funded projects will bring much-needed upgrades, expansions and new facilities that enhance the quality of life for residents while boosting the local economy.”

The RACP awards aim to promote and sustain community-driven projects that improve the quality of life for residents, and Pashinski and Flynn said they believe that investing in local efforts is crucial for building and sustaining a strong, vibrant community.
