Pisciottano secures over $1.7 million for local projects

State grants fund firehall renovations, ADA improvements

GLASSPORT, Oct. 23 – State Rep. Nick Pisciottano announced today over $1.7 million in state grants awarded to support renovations to municipal buildings, ADA upgrades and other development projects across his legislative district.

“Working to drive more tax dollars back to our local neighborhoods is one of the most important aspects of my job as a state representative,” said Pisciottano, D-Allegheny. “I can’t thank my colleagues in the Senate enough for working alongside my office to deliver these investments in our communities. Once complete, these projects will have an immensely positive impact on the lives of my constituents.”

Pisciottano said grants awarded to projects in the 38th Legislative District are:

  • $850,000 to Glassport Borough to renovate the recently purchased building that will house the entire municipal administration and police department facilities. The funded project includes new exterior and interior doors, security updates such as cameras, keyless entry and an intercom system, and repairs to holding cells and restrooms.
  • $374,409 to Community Specialist Corp. for the purchase of 10 new passenger vans to support transportation for local students.
  • $250,000 to Baldwin Borough for renovations and repairs on the Leland salt storage building including a new roof, garage doors, lighting, gutters, downspouts, exhaust fan and other electrical improvements.
  • $160,387 to Dravosburg Borough to purchase and install 21 ADA-compliant ramps to increase accessibility for sidewalks in the borough.
  • $50,976 to Dravosburg Volunteer Fire Department for firehouse renovations.
  • $50,811 to Whitehall Borough to purchase a woodchipper.

The awards are funded by the Statewide Local Share Account, funding that comes from the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, which provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support projects in the public interest in Pennsylvania.
