Kinkead announces $358,000 for school repairs

ROSS TOWNSHIP, Sept. 10 – State Rep. Emily Kinkead today announced Northgate and North Hills school districts have each been awarded a state grant to upgrade infrastructure and address environmental hazards.

“Eliminating environmental hazards in our schools is vital to the well-being and success of our students,” said Kinkead, D-Allegheny. “I’m proud to have helped secure this critical investment in creating safe and healthy schools.”

Kinkead said North Hills was awarded $274,193 and Northgate was awarded $83,717.

The awards were secured through the PA Department of Education’s Environmental Repairs Grants program funding provided in the previous year’s state budget (2023-24). The grants are to be used for improvements to air conditioning or heating, removal of lead and asbestos, repairs to roofs or other environmental hazards.

The grants are part of $75 million awarded to 109 school districts across the state in this round of funding.
