Krueger announces $30,123 grant for Schoolhouse Senior Center

(Jun 24, 2020)

FOLSOM, June 24 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger announced today that Schoolhouse Senior Center was awarded a $30,123 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. The grant comes through the department’s 2019-20 Senior Community Center Grant Program, which aims to help centers increase participation and programming, attract a new generation of older adults, and provide a safe and healthy environment for participants. Schoolhouse Senior Center, in Folsom, will use the funds for the second phase of a project to revitalize and modernize the building, including replacing windows, lighting, ceiling and air conditioning vents, refinishing floors and more. “I’ve seen firsthand the wonderful work that Schoolhouse Senior Center does to keep our older neighbors active and engaged,” said Krueger, D-Delaware. “This project will extend the life of the building and help the center create a more welcoming environment where seniors can enjoy activities and connect with resources. I was pleased to assist the center with the grant application process, and I’m glad funding was awarded to support the vital service the center provides to our community.” The center was one of 60 throughout the state to receive funding. Krueger issues statement on racist, irresponsible social media posts by local school board president

(Jun 11, 2020)

FOLSOM, June 11 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger on Thursday issued the following statement in response to the Philadelphia Inquirer reporting that the president of the Penn-Delco School District Board of Directors shared racist social media posts as well as misinformation about COVID-19 response measures. “All public servants, whether police officers, state legislators or school board directors, are subject to a higher standard of propriety because of the trust we put in them to faithfully discharge their duties of collecting our tax dollars, keeping us safe and providing for our families. Any individual who is uninterested in serving all people — regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or economic background — is unfit for public service and ought to be removed from their post. “Penn-Delco School Board President Leon Armour’s Facebook page was riddled with racist, ableist, and xenophobic posts. No apology — especially not one prefaced on interpretation — can undo the hurt caused by the words and images shared by Mr. Armour. For the students, parents, educators and community members, he has called into question his very intentions of running for office in the first place. “The misinformation and poor attempts at humor about COVID-19 posted to Mr. Armour’s Facebook page are just as concerning. How are we to entrust the safety of our school children to Read more

Krueger to host drive-through food drive

(May 06, 2020)

FOLSOM, May 6 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger will host a drive-through food drive from 10 a.m. to noon May 16 in the parking lot of the Brookhaven Municipal Center, 2 Cambridge Road, Brookhaven. Community members who wish to donate nonperishable food or toiletry items can drive through the parking lot, and Krueger and her staff will get donations directly from the trunks of vehicles. “Now more than ever, some of our neighbors need our help. We can continue to support them while we practice social distancing and limit our contact with one another,” said Krueger, D-Delaware. “I know residents want to help out however they can, and I hope this event makes it easy to support each other while protecting our health, too.” The donations collected will be given to Real Church and Foundry Church to be distributed. The most requested items include cereal, snack bars, macaroni and cheese, SpaghettiOs, canned tuna and chicken, and soups. Gift cards to local grocery stores will also be accepted. Pastors at the churches cited increased need and decreasing donations as more individuals are facing hardships due to COVID-19, Krueger said. Real Church, at 301 Edwards Drive in Brookhaven, will distribute items from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19. Call 610-876-5853 for information. FILL OUT THE 2020 CENSUS

(Apr 27, 2020)

Every 10 years, the United States conducts a census. This count of U.S. residents helps determine how $675 billion is spent by the federal government and how Pennsylvania is represented in Congress for the next 10 years. Fill out the census if you want: better roads and bridges. kids to have quality schools. better access to restaurants and shops. better public safety. This year, it will be even easier to make sure you and your family are counted. You can respond online, by paper or over the phone – without having to meet with a census taker. This is incredibly important now, as we work to minimize in-person contact to slow the spread of COVID-19. The census is printed in English and Spanish, accommodations are available for those with visual or hearing impairments, and telephone assistance is available in 13 languages.
