Partner4Work awarded $260,000 grant to grow nursing career opportunities

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 23 – Regional workforce development organization Partner4Work will receive a $260,000 grant through the state Department of Labor & Industry’s Nursing Pathway Apprenticeship Industry Partnership, members of the state House Allegheny County Democratic Delegation announced today. Reflecting on the recent House Democratic Policy Committee hearing in McCandless addressing critical health care staffing issues, state Rep. Nick Pisciottano, the delegation chair, said the investment will play a significant role in filling the employment void hospitals and care providers have been facing since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. “While this is an important investment from the state, it’s just a drop in the bucket,” said Pisciottano. “There is a colossal shortage of health care workers right now, and fixing this problem is going to require a more aggressive pursuit of policy reforms and funding initiatives at all levels.” Through its Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board, P4W will use Nursing Pathway Apprenticeship Industry Partnership grant funding to establish health care partnerships, expand community outreach between employers and potential workers, and promote apprenticeship opportunities in the health care industry, specifically preparing individuals for careers as licensed professional nurses and certified nursing assistants. HARRISBURG, Jan. 23 – Seeking to ease the burden of medical debt on working families, a plan to create the Pennsylvania Medical Debt Repayment Program was unveiled today by state Reps. Allegheny County conservation efforts awarded $2.2 million

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 13 – Initiatives to improve air and water quality and develop recreation areas throughout the region received more than $2.2 million in state grants from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program , members of the state House Allegheny County Democratic Delegation announced today. “Pennsylvania has the sixth largest outdoor recreation economy in the country,” said state Rep. Nick Pisciottano, who chairs the delegation. “Providing funding to properly manage our waterways and forests not only improves the quality of life of our community members, but also delivers major economic benefits. Our delegation will continue fighting for every dollar we can to keep Pennsylvania beautiful.” The following local funding was included among $31.2 million in grants announced for projects across the state: $499,900 to the city of Pittsburgh to rehabilitate Allegheny Landing Park. The funded project includes renovation of the plaza, historic railings and pedestrian walkways; installation of lawn, meadow and rain gardens; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements. $521,000 to the Allegheny Land Trust for payment toward the acquisition of approximately 96 acres in Monroeville for open space and passive recreation. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny, announced today. “I’m overjoyed to see gaming money invested directly back into our community,” said Pisciottano. “This round of gaming grants will improve the quality of life for residents throughout Allegheny County, especially projects involving critical infrastructure upgrades and supporting first responders.” Pisciottano announced local awards for the following projects: $100,000 to the Baldwin Borough Stormwater Authority to support approximately 750 linear feet of stream restoration in Elm Leaf Park, including the regrading of slopes to remove vertical cuts and installation of native plantings to establish a riparian buffer. $70,000 to the Whitehall Fire Co. to remove a non-functioning building exhaust system to make room for a new direct source capture system.
