Malagari, Collett secure over $1.5 million in LSA grants for public safety, infrastructure and community improvements

LANSDALE, Oct. 22 – State Rep. Steve Malagari, D-Montgomery, today announced over $1.5 million in Local Share Account funding has been approved for several key projects in his district.
“These projects demonstrate our commitment to modernizing and expanding our local services,” said Malagari. “From upgrading electrical systems to creating better community spaces, this funding ensures that our community will benefit from enhanced public safety, reliable infrastructure, and enjoyable recreational facilities. This is how we prepare for the future — by making the necessary investments today.”
“Investments in local infrastructure are critical to making our communities safer and more attractive places to live, work and play,” said Senator Maria Collett, D-Montgomery. “I was proud to work alongside Representative Malagari to bring this funding home to the North Penn community and ensure our public works and recreational facilities continue to serve our neighbors well.”
The following projects have been awarded funding:
Hatfield Public Safety Facility – Site Electrical Work
Hatfield Township has been awarded $500,000 to support electrical work at the new public safety facility. The current facility, built in the 1970s, has become costly to maintain and upgrade. This grant will provide crucial electrical work for the township's new facility.
Hatfield Township Municipal Authority – Electrical Systems Upgrade
Hatfield Township Municipal Authority will receive $250,000 to upgrade the electrical systems at its wastewater treatment plant. The current medium-voltage switchgear, transformers and underground cables that power the plant are over 40 years old and nearing the end of their operational life. These upgrades are essential to prevent service interruptions and to maintain the continuous operation of the WWTP.
Lansdale Borough – Whites Road Park Comfort Station
Lansdale Borough has secured $390,212 to install a permanent restroom facility at Whites Road Park. Currently, the park lacks permanent restroom amenities, limiting its use for community events. This project will install an accessible restroom structure and connect it to water and sewer lines. The new facility will encourage greater park usage and increase the number of community events held at the park.
North Wales Water Authority – Warehouse Roof Replacement
The North Wales Water Authority has been awarded $350,000 for the replacement of the roof on its training center and warehouse facility. The current roof is over 46 years old and poses a safety hazard to employees and visitors. The new roof will improve safety, protect stored materials, and increase the building’s energy efficiency.
North Penn Water Authority – Elevator Replacement
The North Penn Water Authority has been awarded $100,000 to replace the elevator at its operations center in Towamencin Township. The current elevator is outdated and no longer meets modern standards. The new elevator will provide critical access to physically challenged visitors and employees, ensuring that all individuals can safely access all areas of the facility.
